Womp womp.
What a ridiculous, unbelievable, and completely embarrassing FAIL this Immunity Challenge was. Adam and Morgan completed the first part with what I thought were totally decent scores. In fifty-two minutes (and with a good partner), I could have posted a lot of blocks. More importantly, I had already created the posts in a Word document…which took me for-fucking-ever…so all my partner would have had to do was copy and paste as quickly as possible. (I even arranged the blocks into a proper pyramid because presentation is important.) Doesn't sound too hard, does it? But alas, I was stranded by my tribemates yet again, leading to…what is this now?…oh right, my third loss in only five rounds!!! This is fucking killing me! I can't handle incompetence, I can't handle lackluster performance, I can't handle the utter absence of motivation and competitive spirit that has plagued my tribemates so far. Can you imagine if I had wasted my Earth Crystal to give us a time advantage in this challenge? Oh my god, I would have started a fire and jumped into it so I could medevac myself and get the fuck out of here. For the sake of my sanity. (Speaking of crystals, smart move by Boo mutinying to Nyonni; wish I could do the same.)
I ended up losing it on Eddie, which I immediately regretted…until I realized that I could totally use this situation to my advantage. I don't want Adam around anymore but how can I possibly justify voting him out over someone like Eddie, who hasn't done a thing since being on this tribe with me? I needed to win Eddie over, turn him firmly against Adam, and light a fire under his ass for the next challenge so that he felt he had something to prove.
Eddie: Hey Steph!
Stephanie: Hi.
Eddie: What’s up?
Stephanie: My mood definitely isn’t.
Eddie: What’s the matter?
Stephanie: Hmm, it probably has to do with the fact that our pyramid only had one block in it.
Eddie: Yeah, I know. I wish I was home, I would have helped. I was at school. I just assumed I was sitting out because everyone else had posted in the thread.
Stephanie: Why would you assume you were sitting out? More importantly, why would you assume we knew that you had assumed you were sitting out? Like, that doesn’t make sense to me. You could have posted in the thread that you’d be at school. Doesn’t that seem like the accountable teammate thing to do?
Eddie: Yes, but I didn’t know you would start by yourself. And I am on mobile so you could have asked me to try and get on a computer.
Stephanie: I started 52 minutes before the deadline. It’s not like I started at a random time and cost us the challenge. We only had 52 minutes left.
Eddie: I am not saying you cost us the challenge. I wasn’t accusing you of anything. I am just saying I didn’t know you were starting by yourself and you could have come into contact with me. That is all I said.
Stephanie: I did. I messaged you and asked if you were around and you didn’t answer. And again, I had to start at that time because we only earned 52 minutes of building time.
Eddie: On AIM? Because I didn’t get anything sent to my phone.
Stephanie: Well that’s not my fault. Because I did. Hours ago. Look, I’m not saying we lost because of you. I’m in a horrible mood right now for obvious reasons and I’m sorry that I’m in attack mode because it’s not only your fault.
Eddie: I’m not upset that you’re attacking me, I can handle it. It’s not a big deal. I would be upset too if I was in your position.
Stephanie: Can I be totally blunt and honest with you?
Eddie: Sure.
Stephanie: You’ve contributed nothing to this tribe for two rounds in a row. Rationally speaking, I should vote against you. But I’m not.
Eddie: I have contributed in challenges, and I do well. When I wanted to compete in the challenge last round, I couldn’t because no one from the other tribes was online, and this round, I swear I would have tried to sign on if I got your message but I didn’t get anything.
Stephanie: Fine. Either way, like I said, I’m not voting against you. I’m voting out either Laura or Adam, even though one performed amazingly last round and the other performed amazingly this round. I really want us to work well as a tribe. So we need to communicate. If you can’t be here, just say so, that way we can organize ourselves properly.
Eddie: That’s fair. I completely understand. I have no trouble going onto the computer when I get a message sent to my phone, but I didn’t receive anything this time. It wouldn’t make sense for me to flat out ignore you because a) I need your vote to stay in the game and b) we were on the same page when we last talked. So again, there is no reason for me to ignore you. I really just didn’t get the message. Otherwise, I would have gone to the school library or something.
Stephanie: I believe you. Honestly, I do. It was a miscommunication. It’s fine.
Eddie: Thank you.
Stephanie: Who are we voting out?
Eddie: Logically speaking, I feel like Adam is the sneakier of the two. Only because he was telling me and Morgan two completely different things on what he wanted to do, but he performed really well in the challenge.
Stephanie: What do you mean two different things? What he wanted to do about what?
Eddie: Well, when we just found out the new tribes, he told me that he wanted me, him, and Laura to try and tie it up and push a tie in the first Tribal we attend. Then, he told Morgan that he wanted to vote for me. He then tried finding out what me and Morgan talked about but I told him that I was just introducing myself. Because me and Morgan compared notes and thought going after an original Nyonni was smart because they have the numbers against the other two original tribes.
Stephanie: I agree with going after the original Nyonni. But that pisses me off because he told me he was going to vote against you too.
Eddie: Yeah, because if we do get rid of anyone else, they will still have all seven of their original members.
Stephanie: So he lied to me so that he could push for a tie?
Eddie: Well, unless he is lying to me. But he was adamant about trying to gain the majority over you guys. Because if he didn’t, then he was just a sitting duck.
Stephanie: I see.
Eddie: He said he tried swaying you guys to turn on one of your own but that you guys were targeting me, which is why I thought I was leaving last round.
Stephanie: Well, I talked to you after I talked to him and that was when you and I agreed to keep each other safe.
Eddie: Exactly why what he was saying didn’t add up at all.
Stephanie: Wow. Interesting.
Eddie: He told you guys that he was voting for me, so that you guys would think you’re in the majority, while the target was off his back.
Stephanie: If he asks me, I’m going to tell him that I’m voting against you. Same with Laura, if she asks. But you have my word that I’m voting out Adam.
Eddie: I will definitely do the same. And you have my word that I will compete in the next challenge and I will prove to you that I’m not worthless.
Stephanie: I don’t think you’re worthless. I’m sorry that I was so harsh. I didn’t mean to be so mean.
Eddie: No, I’m a blunt person. I appreciate the honesty. I don’t take offence, I understood why you were mad.
Stephanie: I’m totally blunt too…obviously. So I’m glad we can talk totally openly like that.
Eddie: Yes, I am not sensitive either, so you could have still been yelling at me and my feelings would not have been hurt. But you can trust me, and you have my word that I will not lie to you.
Stephanie: And you have my word that I won’t lie to you too.
Eddie: I basically owe you my life in this game.
Stephanie: I wouldn’t go that far.
Eddie: Well, I would probably be going if it wasn’t for you. So I will pay you back when I can.
Stephanie: Okay, deal.
So I stretched the truth a bit and made Adam's scheming out to be worse than what it was. Oh well. Eddie confirmed that Adam was relaying our conversation and that's all the proof I needed that Adam is no longer someone I can rely on. Fuck, all I had to do was keep fulfilling his flirtation fantasy and I would have had him in my back pocket. Too bad, so sad. Now he's got to go. If this conversation had the effect I want it to, Adam's fate is sealed and he'll be voted off at Tribal Council tomorrow. And more importantly, Eddie will feel indebted to me for saving his life in this game. Morgan, Kat, and I will have the majority and control the vote if we ever end up at Tribal Council again, and—in an ideal world—Eddie's gratitude to me (or at least the trust I'm building with him) will have long term benefits if he sticks around past the merge.
A sitting duck. Please. Good thing I played a lot of Duck Hunt as a kid.
